On the 1st March, the Alcossebre municipal CESAL building housed the first course, as the CdT-Castellón training centre headquarters for professionals from the hospitality sector. The course “Recipes and uses for the Castellón truffle” was given by Carlos Gutiérrez, chef from the Casa Roque restaurant in Morella and consisted of theory, in which historical, social and gastronomic aspects related to this tuber were described and then afterwards there was a practical demonstration making dishes based on the truffle. The courses, aimed at hospitality professionals, will continue during future months, with a session dedicated to the artichoke and its uses, on 12th April, and another on dry and sticky rice dishes on 10th May. Professionals interested in registering for them, can do so through the CdT-Castelló web site, following the usual process.
Tourism councillor, Selene Blázquez, who attended at the beginning of the course, pointed out that “the Council’s aim is for these rooms to facilitate the training of hospitality professionals from our town and others nearby, without having to travel to Castellón, thus promoting competitivity and the resources”. The Council’s objective is for the classrooms to continue being used as regulated training resources, and therefore it has been ratified.
The process to make these classrooms possible started in 2016. Last July, the Valencian Community Tourism and the Alcala-Alcossebre Council subscribed to the agreement for its operation, the Council ceding various spaces of the building to accommodate the training classrooms and the Valencian Generalitat contributing 30,000 euros for the preparation and improvement of the installations, which will be prepared to welcome cookery training and an IT classroom and projections.
Mayor Francisco Juan pointed out that “we know the survival of the tourist sector is clear – it is essential in our municipality and in the region – and we are offering tools so that both businesses and the workers are more competitive. For this reason, our intention is for these Alcossebre CESAL classrooms to become an active driver for training in this extremely important sector”.
