José Martí and Tania Baños explain on line to over 60 clubs the basic details of assistance for sports in 2021
The president of the Diputación and the Sports deputy, Tania Baños, held a zoom meeting on 2nd March with over 60 sports clubs in Castellón province to explain the details of the 2021 funding announcement, with a budget five times greater than in 2019, going from 100,000 euros to 500,000 euros. Applications can be made until 21st March.
It was during a productive working session followed by representatives of the 59 clubs which had signed up previously and others which were following through Youtube. As Martí explained, “the aim is to provide all the information possible and at first hand so that the club officers can learn what funds, what circumstances, when and how, they can be requested”. It is an initiative which “is intended to remain and which we will repeat in future years, and which obeys the vocation of transparency of Sports deputy, Tania Baños, and her efforts to facilitate things for sports clubs”.
According to the president, some bodies “are of vital importance for the province, because they make it possible for children and adolescents to practise sport and, therefore, they promote health”. She added that “it is something which we in the new Diputación have always held clear and, much more now we are so rooted in the pandemic and self-isolating, which has so altered the usual way of exercising and practising sport”. She declared that “for us, generalising practising sport is a priority”.
For her part, Tania Baños said that “after this year, grants will be not only for kits, but also for other needs”, and access will be by competitive competition process “to guarantee transparency and equality of opportunities”. In this way, she emphasised that they are continuing to go into greater depth and improving the process which began in the 2020 announcement, when “we eliminated a practice of the previous governing group which seemed to us to be very unjust, as it set up a much reduced amount of funds which were assigned according to the order in which the requests arrived, although these were presented in time and form”.
