A workshop in the lo Campanar and la Mola schools, organised by Isonomia
The Isonomia Foundation of the Jaume I University in Castellón, working with Alcala de Xivert Council, has planned the “Mileva” workshop to bring attention to stereotypes in the educational framework and occupations in Alcala-Alcossebre schools.
The workshops, aimed at pupils in primary year 4, aim to encourage the academic and professional choice away from gender stereotypes and to stimulate the different professional options, with particular attention to the promotion of girls towards traditionally masculine jobs such as science and technology, and of boys towards traditionally feminine jobs such as caring, teaching, health… Also, it will reflect on the importance of the use of inclusive language, as language is a key factor in socialisation because it passes on attitudes and beliefs. For their part, teachers and families will have materials and orientation on the subject.
This action, which was boosted on the 4th March online, is driven by the Alcala d Xivert-Alcossebre Council within its actions commemorating International Women’s Day on 8th March.
