The Alcala de Xivert Espai d’Oci will be set up as a space for mass vaccinations
From the 1st April, mass vaccinations will begin for residents of Alcalà, Alcossebre, Santa Magdalena, Torreblanca and la Ribera de Cabanes between the ages of 18 and 80 years
From the 1st of April, the Alcala de Xivert Espai d’Oci will be the building prepared for carrying out mass vaccinations against COVID-19 for men and women aged 18 to 80 years from Alcalà, Alcossebre, Santa Magdalena, Torreblanca and la Ribera de Cabanes. Following a visit by experts from the Vinaròs Health Department, it was considered that the Espai d’Oci complies with all the conditions for converting it into the mass vaccination centre through which it is calculated that 10,000 people will pass during future months. The large size of the building, accessibility, the several entrances and exits and the large parking area made it the best infrastructure for this purpose. The Council will assemble all the equipment such as tables, chairs, separators, setting up areas for post-vaccination observation, etc. as well as selecting a safety team to control the entrances and exits of the building. Health councillor, Melina Fradejas, explained that “it will all shortly be assembled because we have been urged to have the building ready for the 1st April although the start of vaccinating will depend on the availability of vaccines”.
Mayor Francisco Juan insisted that “we have continued working as always during the pandemic, we have given maximum cooperation to the Health Department and provided the health infrastructures with the best equipment possible, such as we erecting tents at the entrances to the health centres. In this case, it will be a task to convert the Espai d’Oci into a vaccination centre but all the municipal departments involved are already working to make everything in a perfect condition”.
