Castellón airport is working with the tourism sector in carrying out surveys of the market linked to the routes to Vienna and Katowice
- The work undertaken analyses the emission potential for tourists by air from Austria and Poland once the connections are resumed
- Blanca Marín emphasises that the initiative is part of the cooperation strategy with the sector to increase the arrival of visitors
Castellón airport has asked for many studies to be carried out in the Austrian and Polish markets, aiming to collaborate with the tourist sector in capturing visitors through the flight routes from Vienna and Katowice, planning to resume them in June.
Blanca Marín, the Aerocas general director, explained that the airport continues to work on resuming the regular connections, which have been suspended since last October as a consequence of the coronavirus. According to her, this reactivation “is conditional on the factors such as the evolution of the pandemic, the rhythm of vaccination and the restrictions on mobility”.
In spite of the uncertain situation, she added, “the airport is developing an intense task in view of re-establishing regular traffic, in permanent contact and coordination with airlines, operators, tourist agents, businesses and institutions”.
Within this strategy, cooperation with the tourist sector is included, Aerocas has had many studies on the prospects in Austria and Poland, two of the international markets with air connection with Castellón, focusing on the territory around Vienna and Katowice.
The work consists of an analysis of these markets and their potential as sources of tourists in the COVID situation. It deals with aspects such as the level of knowledge of Castellón as a destination among the general public and the tourist operators, as well as establishing contacts with travel agencies and wholesalers with the capacity of programming the Castellón destination taking advantage of the airlines connecting with Vienna and Katowice.
The Aerocas Director has stated that the information they bring to these studies “is valuable, in the measure that it gives an up-to-date picture of the situation, possibilities and perspectives on these transmitting markets, which have a great margin for growth”. “With this information, the tourist agents in Castellón can position their promotional and commercial strategy. It can also be useful for them when drawing up holiday packages liked to the connection offered by Castellón airport”, he stated.
Promotion in Poland
On the other hand, Castellón airport has taken part, together with the Valencian Community Tourism and Provincial Tourist Board, in the 2021 Poland Direct Days organised by Turespaña through the Warsaw OET. It was a video meeting between companies and Spanish destinations with tour operators and agencies in Poland. In this event, Castellón airport marketed itself as the port of entrance to the Valencian Community for the Polish tourists.
