Alcala-Alcossebre Council resumes the Book Club and opens registrations

Alcala-Alcossebre Council reintroduces the Book Club, suspended since March 2020 because of the health pandemic. This initiative, which was started in November 2019 with about 20 members, aims to bring literature to all interested residents, through reading the works proposed, monthly sessions for an exchange of views on them and the presence of authors. As last year, the Club coordinator is Mariola Nos, the culture manager with professional experience as a bookseller and organiser of literary and artistic events.
The sessions, which will begin in June, will be held monthly and attendance must be booked in advance. Until 20th May, those interested will have to bring their registration form to the Municipal Libraries, Alcala Council or the Alcossebre Municipal Office or send it via email to participa@alcaladexivert.es. Those people who were already registered for the Book Club do not need to fill in another form. The day and time of the sessions will be decided among the participants, taking as a reference that, in the previous year, they were held every Wednesday at 18.30 h, in the Alcala Library.
Education Councillor, Selene Blázquez, pointed out that “we are reintroducing this initiative with a lot of anticipation, given the great acceptance which it generated last year for fans of reading and as an activity for encouraging culture in our municipality. We wanted to be cautious, when resuming it, and we believe that from June is a good time, always applying all the safety and hygiene measures necessary”.
