Alcala-Alcossebre Tourism Department announces its calendar of annual activities

As innovations, a guided route “the Poetic Heritage” and with greater prominence of gastronomic activities focused on the Hanging Tomato

[Img #82032]Alcala-Alcossebre Tourism Department has announced its new 2021 annual calendar, reflecting all the walking routes, guided visits and dramatized routes, etc.  The common denominator of this plan is to offer a wide range based on spreading and taking advantage of the local extensive historical and natural heritage as a further tourist attraction.  New this year is a fresh guided route, The Poetic Inheritance, which through texts and readings, is a tour through the town’s historical centre.  Also given a higher profile are activities related to the gastronomy, with a fundamental role for the iconic local product, the hanging tomato, to which one of the gastronomic routes is dedicated, and which combines it with a local heritage visit and information on the product and its cultivation, ending with an exhibition.  This will take place every weekend during the month of October.  “This activity had already had a good response during the first 2020 ‘October, month of the hanging tomato’ and, therefore, we have incorporated it in the calendar because everything related to the gastronomy is going to have a very important role in our town’s tourism management”, Selene Blázquez, the Tourism councillor, pointed out.

The activities start on 1st May with a Photographic Walk starting from Cala Blanca, through a route across the Sierra d’Irta natural park with specific stops to take photos.  And they continue, each month, with activities such as dramatized routes in the Xivert castle, the Templar Inheritance guided route through the historic centre of Alcala which includes the visit to the bell tower and the Alcala church, family sports, cycling and walking tours, around parishes such as the Font de la Parra, Capicorb, the Campanilles peak, Torre Ebri and the Santa Lucia hermitage.

“Our aim is to continue offering a calendar with a wide range of activities and which each week could provide an attractive option for visitors, both staying and day trips, counting on alternatives for learning about our architectural and natural heritage”, she explained and insisted that “all the activities will be carried out in accordance with all the safety and health prevention measures”.

The calendar can be found in the Download section of the web Alcossebre.org and on the municipal web.
