The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has announced the start of a new stage in overcoming the pandemic, a “new dynamic” which means a time of “progressive opening which will not go backwards, thanks to the vaccination”.

The head of the Consell stated this in an institutional declaration which he announced on the occasion of the end of the emergency state and the coming into force of new regulations in the fight against the pandemic, on Sunday, at 00.00 hours.  The new measures were announced after the meeting of the Interdepartmental Table for the Prevention of and Action against COVID-19.

The president of the Generalitat emphasised the end of the autonomous perimeter which prevented entry and exit from the Comunitat Valenciana: “I promised that this measure would not last a day more than necessary, and so it will be”.

He also moved the new regulation, which will be in force until 24th May, and which consists of delaying until midnight the start of the restriction on night-time mobility, which will be maintained between 00.00 and 06.00 hours. He also increased to 10 the maximum number of people who can meet socially, both in public and private places, open and closed.

Another of the principal measures consists of increasing the capacity in hospitality to 50% inside and extending opening hours to 23.30 hours.

“These are three advances which will drive the activity of thousands of businesses and which allow us to return to a state of almost full activity” the president of the Generalitat indicated.

Pride

Ximo Puig indicated that the Valencians “have been at the height of this historic time: the worst of the last century”.  Therefore, he indicated, we can feel pride at being a European reference and knowing how to protect life.  “With this attitude of fortitude and union we are coming out of the tunnel”, the president of the Generalitat assured, “and now we are entering a new dynamic”.

The head of the Consell had words of remembrance for those people who had lost their lives as a result of the pandemic, and alluded particularly to the elderly: “You were the most important, and here no-one ever discussed what was worth more, a beer or a life”.

Vaccination

The president of the Generalitat underlined the good rhythm which the vaccination followed in the Valencian Community, with the administering of 270,000 vaccines during the previous week, thanks to this “we are already nearly at the number of two million inoculated doses”.

He also explained that everyone over the age of 75 years has completed the guideline, that the campaign continues advancing with people between 60 and 75 years old and that at the end of the month all those elderly over the age of 60 will be vaccinated with at least one dose.  He also indicated that during the month of June, the plan is to vaccinate the population over 50 years old.
