Castellon airport will carry out Covid 19 tests as part of the strategy for safe tourist corridors
Aerocas is dealing with the request from the Imegen laboratory to be installed in the terminal this summer and to provide tests for people who need it.

Castellon Airport public company (Aerocas) has agreed to deal with the request from the Valencian company Imegen to have a space to carry out COVID-19 diagnosis tests. The implementation of this service, from July, aims to facilitate the return of those passengers which demand a test in the destination airport, as well as aligning itself with the Generalitat’s strategy for safe tourist corridors.
Arcadi España, councillor for Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, explained that, besides the strict measures for health control which are already in use, following the instructions and under the supervision of Foreign Health, the Castellon airport is going to use complementary initiatives, “in harmony with the Generalitat’s strategy to preserve the Valencian Community as a safe tourist destination”.
For this reason, Aerocas has processed the request put forward by the Imegen company so that they can rent, for a period of two months (July and August), an area in the passenger terminal with the aim of using it to carry out tests to detect the coronavirus using PCR and a test for antigens.
This service will make it possible to carry out the test on those people who are required by their destination to have it. In this way, Arcadi España said, “tourists will have an additional reference place in the airport to specifically have a coronavirus diagnostic test, thus facilitating their stay and return”.
The establishment will adapt its opening times to the times of the flights. It will have space to carry out the tests in a safe way, with affordable prices and will be approved by the Health Ministry and adapted to the current health regulations in force. The results will be returned within approximately 12 hours in the case of the PCR, and in less than one hour for the antigen tests.
Imegen is the only company accredited by ENAC to carry out the COVID-19 tests and has extensive experience, as it provides its services to other airports such as Málaga and Seville.
