Alcala-Alcossebre Council Services and Tourism departments are finalising the preparation of Alcossebre’s beaches ready for the summer season.  During recent weeks, they have put the access walkways in place on the beaches and the showers and foot-sprays are working.  They have also put waste bins at the accesses and shortly will install WC’s – which was not possible to install last year due to the COVID-19 protocols.  Showers, foot-sprays and WC’s will be disinfected several times a day.

During this weekend, it is planned that there will be a redistribution of sand in the Las Fuentes beach and, once this is completed, the access walkways will be put in place and the showers and foot-sprays will be ready for use.  For their part, the Costas Provincial Service is repairing the wooden walkway on the Romana beach which provides access to the area adapted for disabled people and which was damaged during storm Filomena.

The rescue and lifesaving service is already operating on the Las Fuentes, Cargador and Romana beaches, during June between 11.00h and 19.00h, in July and August from 11.00h to 20.30h.  The area adapted for the disabled on the Cargador beach will be operational from the 15th June – this year it will have WC, changing room and shower – and that on the Romana beach will be installed when the repairs to the accesses have been completed.

Regarding control of the accesses and respect for safe distancing, this will be carried out by beach auxiliaries and the life-saving staff and, like last summer, drones piloted by the Local Police will watch for compliance with the restrictions on capacity.

“We are working so that our beaches can be in the best possible conditions and each year it is necessary to carry out different actions, depending on the effects which the action of the sea has had on them, but always guaranteeing that all the services are available and that the people using them can enjoy them”, Tourism councillor, Selene Blázquez, emphasised, and insisted that “we will continue adapting to the regulations in the COVID-19 protocols, as our greatest intention is to have safe beaches”
