The Partido Popular’s spokesperson in the Senate, Javier Maroto, has been added to the voices demanding that the Alcossebre Coastal Pathway wooden walkway is repaired, following the Costas General Management giving up without rebuilding some sections which were affected by the storm Filomena.

During his visit to Alcossebre when he had a meeting with local mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, Maroto indicated that “the example of seeing no investments made which, however, are essential, such as the Coastal Pathway, is a call for attention which I completely and undoubtedly share with the mayor.  To have environmental investments, including those which affect tourism, without attention from the Spanish Government, is to have neither soul nor sensibility with coastal municipalities and tourist municipalities like Alcossebre”.

The PP spokesperson in the Senate demanded “Accompanying the mayor from here, I asked for a little sense in this ministry which spends so much and which spends so badly, so that n future investments must take into account, first the maintenance of works which would have to be attended to and then other pending questions which affect the whole of Spain”.

In this way he insisted that from the PP “we want to have this Coastal Pathway reconstructed in good condition now, because it is something which not only the tourists and residents demand, but it is common sense itself which tells us that we must maintain the infrastructures on the coast”.

Support for Francisco Juan

Javier Maroto showed his support for the mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre with his presence to “support the great mayors in the Comunidad Valenciana and particularly in Castellón.  For us, Paco Juan is not just anyone, he is a reference for work well done and prizewinning among the citizens.  Therefore, what we want is for the work of mayors to be known like this, so that others can follow the example and that good governments can be reproduced throughout the Comunidad Valenciana, which merits it.  I believe that the Valencians deserve governments like that of Paco Juan.  Among other things, because he makes demands with common sense and the people appreciate common sense, effort and work well done”.

The mayor thanked the PP spokesperson for his support in the Senate, where he had put forward questions on this matter to the government to urge for an immediate solution to the situation.  Juan Mars affirms that “there is no sense that a Coastal Path which has been awarded a Blue Flag year after year should now be resolved by “we’ll destroy it and remove it’ because of the damage caused by storm Filomena.  We have repeatedly asked for a plan to protect the shore so that we don’t have to repair our beaches every year.  To protect it and to prevent having to waste money repeatedly year after year”.
