“Recycle for Sea-conservation” (“Reciclar para ConserMar”) arrives in Alcossebre organised by the Department for the Environment and Waste-recycling
On Friday 9th July, the “Reciclar para ConserMar” team will set up on the Las Fuentes beach to make citizens aware of the benefits of recycling for the environment and the importance of leaving no litter on the beaches.

It is an action promoted by the Agriculture, Rural Development Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, and Ecoembes, in cooperation with 22 coastal Councils throughout the Valencian Community, aiming to encourage the selective collection of packaging litter generated in the beach environments.
Throughout the morning, the ConserMar team will attend to the people who come to the stand located on the Las Fuentes Beach. The objective is to inform people about the importance of leaving no litter on the beaches and of sorting it out and separating it correctly. They will also answer any doubts on where and how to deposit a particular waste item, so that it can then be recycled. These activities in situ enable the greatest number of residents to be reached and made aware of what recycling action they should carry out in each situation and place.
This initiative aims to encourage people to make a selective collection of waste and packaging generated around the beaches (tins, cartons, plastic wrapping and bottles) and to bring to their attention that a stop must be put to rubbish, that is, leaving waste on the beaches (littering). The action reinforces the importance of domestic separation of this rubbish and depositing it in the corresponding containers to favour recycling it. With all this, it helps to reduce contamination, improves the environmental quality and contributes to the circular economy of packaging.
Finally, it deals with Involving citizens as active agents in preserving the common heritage which our beaches represent, valuing them for what they are, a natural treasure upon whose use and enjoyment is also based a great part of our economic development. Through the web www.reciclarParaConserMar.es you can learn about the development of the campaign and the day when the team will visit each beach.
From the Environment Department, leader Joan Carlos Barceló, emphasised that “as well as the efforts we are able to make in the council to maintain our beaches clean it is essential that residents are involved to reduce the litter and respect the natural treasure which the beaches represent”.
