Alcala Book Club reopens with author Victor del Árbol present
He will present his latest novel, The son of the father, at an event open to the public on Saturday, 31st July, at 19.30hours outside the Alcala Library

Following its suspension driven by the health situation, Alcala de Xivert Book Club returns to its activities with the presence of the author Victor del Árbol, who will present his latest novel, The son of the father. The event will take place in the square outside the Alcala de Xivert Library, on Saturday, 31st July, at 19.30 hours and, whether or not they are a member of the Book Club, it is open to anyone interested, until the full capacity is reached.
Victor del Árbol is one of the most successful contemporary authors in the Spanish language, both critically and in the number of book sales. He won the 2016 Christmas Prize for the novel The eve of nearly everything (La vispera de casi todo) and he has been a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters since 2017
Councillor Selene Blázquez, expressed her thanks to the members of the Club “for continuing to support the initiative in spite of the year of enforced suspension” and emphasised that “we hope that more men and women who are fans of reading will join this Book Club, through which we will continue to bring important authors from the Spanish literary panorama, as was Martínez de Pisón and now Víctor del Árbol, and encouraging greater depth in the parallel world which books offer us”.
From September, members of the Club will meet up again once a month in the Municipal Library, to share reading of the proposed works. The cultural and library director, Mariola Nos, is in charge of this space to share cultural interests which any like-minded person can join. The forms for joining are available in the Municipal Library.
