Ceilidh Caleerie was back
The Edinburgh based band Ceilidh Caleerie returned to the Castellón region from the 24th to the 29the of May. The twenty-eight played in the castle of Peñiscola on the 25th and made a hundred people dance to the tunes of Strip the Willow and Dashing White Sergeant. The next day they played in the old barracks of Tetuan in Castellón at the festival of the Asturians Pipers where more than 2000 people enjoyed their music and 500 of those present danced to the tunes of the Scottish and Canadian Waltzes and the Gay Gordon, ending as always with hundreds holding hands for Auld Lang Syne, a wonderful gesture of brother and sisterhood in Castellón. On Sunday they played to a small group of members of the Alcossebre Pensionistas and later in the open air to a few hundreds in the presence of the Mayor. All their concerts were started by Mike, the Piper and ended with Auld Lang Syne.
Ceilidh Caleerie is continuing their relationship with the Alcossebre sevillanas they had invited to Edinburgh 2 years ago. This year they added the Castellón based Asturian Pipers and the Alcalà based members of the Custom del Maestrat who invited them to a delicious paella, starters by the Sevillanas and the desert by the wife of the Mayor of Alcalá and the Councillor for culture. The band raised directly and indirectly €2270 for The Aspropace Foundation and €359 for the local Cancer Association, all in an atmosphere of good will and merriment. Both associations were grateful for the helping hand of the band. The band is planning a return visit to Edinburgh for September 2013 for some groups from here.
