The splendour of Brexit or the strange journey of a little letter

Once upon a time there was a little letter, written in far away Scotland and sent to Mediterranean Alcossebre. It was brought, as usual, to the post office, where it was registered on February 22nd and where it was put into an envelope. Oh, that´s nothing new, all letters are put into envelopes. Well, that´s true, but it wasn´t put into a normal envelope, it was just put into a Customs declaration envelope. A Customs declaration? Maybe there was a gift or something else enclosed? No, no, there was just the letter.
It´s well known that the Scots didn´t want to leave Europe, probably they are now mocking about the Brexit´s stupidity, following the new rules to the letter; that seems to be confirmed by the fact that a letter, posted in England, entered Spain in an ordinary envelope.
There maybe still another reason, the saving of paper, thus avoiding the felling of thousands and thousands of trees. Saving paper? Well, having to fill in Customs declarations whenever you post a letter, will make everyone desist from writing letters!
How do you explain the letter´s late delivery? According to the Scottish post office, the letter was sent away the first of March, but didn´t arrive before May 10th. Maybe according to petrol shortage and increasing prices, they decided the use of means of transport of effectiveness proved long ago, such as postcarriages. That would mean to kill two birds with a stone: the protection of the environment and the increase of the fields´productivity by using the natural and ecological horse droppings.
By the way, if they really have been using a carriage, the time spent isn´t really as bad; just think about the difficult and dangerous crossing of the Channel!
