Alcossebre en Cant 2023
No more concerts at the Alcossebre pensioners, now they are at the Espai´d´Oci´s big hall, which was completely crowded on July 14th and 15th. The concert on July 14th was about local artists, whose professionality was really amazing; amazing, too, was the programme: different combinations of instruments and voice, and lots of unknown composers.
On July 15th we went to the opera, to Bizet´s Carmen, where we enjoyed the brilliant mezzo Joana Thomé, best known since the festival´s very beginning. The abridged opera was presented by “Crea Escena“ who, in spite of the reduced number of actors, succeeded in representing interesting and believable scenes.
The festival began, on July 12th, with a musical walk, offering classical music to everybody, at different places: the pines of Cargador beach, Vista Alegre square, the promenade next to the Guardia Civil and the platform near the port. A brilliant idea, which, unfortunately, had to cope with reality: the noise of the sea and the more or less loud talking of peopla who didn´t pay attention to the music, didn´t allow a correct listening; at least that happened at Vista Alegre.
Hopefully, the hall was crowded, too, on July 13th, when a violin and a piano played Valencian Postwar Sonatas.
Once more, the festival ended with a concert at Santa Lucia chapel: Baroque music, played by the Baroque Orchestra of Castellon´s Conservatoire Superior.
I suppose, once more lots of people were obliged to stay at home, due to age or because of the dark, steep and winding road. That´s why again I suggest a minibus service, starting from different stops. Maybe that would avoid, too, the endless queus of cars after the concerts´ending and their bad influence on environment. Well, it´s up to the experts to decide about minibuses.
