Alcossebre’s Summer Entertainment Programme features local groups
The Alcala de
Xivert-Alcossebre Council’s entertainment programme for residents and visitors
to the coastal town this summer includes presentations by various local groups
who are taking part in the Culture Councillor’s initiative to display the
town’s traditions and customs. During
July, music and tradition are at the head of the programme of events. The local group of Spanish dancers, Aires de
Alcossebre, opened the season with their performance.
The local
traditional dance group will be next.
Their dances will be accompanied by the Alcala group ‘dolçainers i
tabaleters’ Lo Xular on 20th July at 11pm. They will be performing, as last year, on
stage on the Cargador Beach promenade.
As well as displaying their traditional dances, they will take the
audience on a journey through time by showing the different clothing worn in
the past by women in Alcala, the ‘gaspatxeras’.
One week later,
on Friday, 27th July, it will be the turn of the band, another great
tradition in the Valencian Community.
There will be two bands taking part, from Alcala de Xivert and La Jana,
and they will take to the stage to play their repertoire on the Cargador Beach
promenade.
Finally, the 1st
Alcossebre Lyric Song Festival ‘En Cant’ will end July with a series of
concerts which are already awaited with great interest by fans of this type of
music.
