Good attendance at the Red Cross lecture in Alcossebre

The conference
on “The influence of the emotions on physical health” attracted a big audience
to the hall in the Alcossebre’s San Benet Pensioners Association.
The lecture,
promoted by the Red Cross and supported by the Alcala de Xivert Council’s
Welfare Department, was based on interesting different themes such as the
effect of their emotional state on people’s health. Recent studies were looked at which
demonstrate the negative effect on health of emotional states such as anger,
worry and stress. On the other hand,
they also showed how optimism, security and altruism are very positive emotions
for people.
The audience had
the opportunity to take part in the conference to ask about various doubts and to
obtain more, better information. One of
the messages which the speaker, Carmen Cerdá, imparted was that the result of
developing altruistic, generous behaviour is that “you feel good about yourself and this is fundamental”.
