Dedicado a un Monumento Singular
Hace ya unos cuantos meses que el viajero, nada más entrar en Alcossebre, esa pedanía dominada por el todopoderoso Alcalá de Xivert, se da de bruces con un gran edificio blanco de traza sencilla y sobria. Preguntado el consistorio por el significado de edificio tan espectacular, explican que se trata de un monumento dedicado al máximo aprovechamiento de espacio, un tema de gran actualidad, dada la gran escasez de espacios en cuanto a moradas para jóvenes y no tan jóvenes.
Lo asombroso es que, seguramente debido a una enseñanza deficiente de la historia, ni uno solo de los concejales había oído del sensacional método medieval de aumentar espacios a medida que uno va subiendo de piso, método ese que aún puede estudiarse en el pueblo de Albarracín.
De haberse empleado el método medieval, se habrían matado dos pájaros de un tiro: por un lado ganancia de espacio, y por el otro ganancia de sombra, muy de agradecer cuando uno, aspirando la deliciosa mezcla de las brisas viniendo del mar y de los tubos de escape, va moviéndose lentamente hacia el segundo semáforo.

Just when entering Alcossebre, you will bump into a huge, white and simple building. According to the council, the building is considered a monument to the utmost use of space.
It´s a pity that, probably due to unefficient teaching of history at school, any of the councillors knew about the inventive space increasing system, used in the Middle Ages, i.e. space increasing according to the number of floors. Using this system, two birds would have been killed with just one stone: the increase of space and the increase of shade for the stressed drivers, when mowing slowly towards the second traffic light, breathing in the delicious mixture of the breezes coming from the sea and the great many exhaust pipes.

Der Reisende, der Alcossebre besuchen möchte, diesen ehemals stillen und grünen, vom mächtigen Alcalá de Xivert beherrschten Ort, rennt seit einigen Monaten gleich am Ortseingang gegen ein großes, weißes Bauwerk schlichter Ausführung. Entsprechende Nachforschungen im Rathaus haben ergeben, dass es sich um ein Denkmal über größtmögliche Flächennutzung handelt.
Wahrscheinlich haben mangelhafter Geschichtsunterricht an den Schulen dazu geführt, dass kein einziges Mitglied des Gemeinderates das im Mittelalter geläufige Verfahren der Flächenerweiterung nach Anzahl der Stockwerke kannte. Bei Verwendung dieser Methode hätte man nämlich zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe geschlagen: einerseits Erhöhung der Fläche, andererseits Schaffung schattiger Zonen für die gestressten Autofahrer, wenn sie sich, die köstliche Mischung aus Meeres- und Auspuffbrise einatmend, langsam in Richtung zweite Ampel bewegen.
