Call for Applications Open for "Nodus 2025", the Contemporary Dance Artistic Residency with Toni Aparisi in Cinctorres
This project is designed to promote, expand, and innovate the contemporary dance repertoire for dancers from all over the world, of all nationalities and ages. The activity aims to artistically unite the Castellón region through culture, thanks to the collaboration between the Fundación Caixa Castelló, Cinctorres City Council, Tírig City Council, and the Diputación de Castelló.
Once the selection is made, a dance residency will take place from July 7 to 13, 2025, in Cinctorres, under the coordination of choreographer Toni Aparisi and Alfredo Llopico, cultural technician at Fundación Caixa Castelló, with the support of the City Council staff.
Conditions for participation and development
- Covered expenses: travel (according to conditions), accommodation in Cinctorres, and meals during the residency.
- Insurance: each participant must provide a copy of their health insurance. The organization will cover civil liability insurance.
- Accommodation: Hotel El Faixero (www.elfaixero.net), and Zielo de Levante (www.zielodelevante.com), full board, and shared double rooms.
- Travel grant: up to 250 € for participants from within Spain. For international participants, a proportional grant will be established based on their place of origin.
- Transport: collective transport will be provided from Castelló.
- Remunerated performance: possibility of performing at the Sala Sant Miquel (Castelló), starting in September 2025.

Creative process
- Duration: daily sessions of 5-6 hours
- Collective work: each participant will develop their own piece with collaboration from others
- Performance option: interpreting one’s own piece is not mandatory
- Number of performers per piece: 6 or 7 if the creator participates
- Creative freedom: no restrictions on duration or technique; it is recommended to include elements linked to the region of Los Ports
- Methodology: description of whether personal material, other performers’ material, or a combination will be used
- Minimum duration of the piece: between 5 and 10 minutes
- Other elements: theatrical, gestural, or performative aspects can be integrated

The Fundación Caixa Castelló (www.fundacioncajacastellon.es) is a private, non-profit institution that began its activities in the second half of 1991. Its mission is to carry out and promote all types of activities of general and particular interest, including research, education, culture, the environment, healthcare, social assistance, and others that respond to the needs felt by society.
These goals are achieved through various activities, either through direct management in its own centers or by collaborating with the support of activities carried out in centers that are not its property. All this aims to preserve the identity of the Social Work service to the society of Castellón.
The municipality of Cinctorres (www.cinctorres.es) is in the Los Ports region, in the northwest of the province of Castelló, in a mountainous area of high landscape and heritage value. It is approximately 100 km from Castelló and about 30 km from Morella, the capital of the region. Cinctorres is part of the Los Ports Regional Community and sits at an altitude of 945 meters above sea level. It borders the municipality of Forcall to the north, Morella to the east, Castellfort to the south, and the province of Teruel to the west. Its municipal territory is crossed by ravines and streams that flow into the Bergantes River, adding ecological and landscape richness to the area. With a population of around 400 inhabitants, Cinctorres stands out for its agricultural and livestock activities, as well as its paleontological and cultural heritage, which attracts more and more visitors, especially in the summer months.
The municipality of Tírig (www.tirig.es) is in the comarca of Alto Maestrazgo, in the north of the province of Castellón, within a natural setting known for its scenic beauty and historical significance. It lies approximately 65 km from Castellón de la Plana and just a few kilometers from towns such as Albocàsser and Sant Mateu. Tírig is part of the Alto Maestrazgo Commonwealth and sits at an altitude of around 500 meters above sea level. It borders the municipalities of La Salzadella, Catí, and Albocàsser. Its municipal area is characterized by ravines and rocky formations that are part of the Maestrazgo’s natural heritage, with a special highlight being the Remígia Cave rock paintings, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a population of around 400 inhabitants, Tírig combines traditional agricultural activity with significant tourist appeal, thanks to its historical, cultural, and archaeological heritage—particularly evident at the Valltorta Museum.
Toni Aparisi studied dramatic art at the Superior School of Dramatic Art and Dance of Valencia (E.S.A.D) and dance at the Valencian schools of Amparo Bayarri, Amparo Benimeli, and the European Dance Center. He later completed his training by working alongside renowned choreographers such as Gerard Collins, Olga Poliakof, Francesc Bravo, Gracel Meneu, Vicente Sáez, Carolyn Carson, Santiago Sempere, and Rosángeles Valls.
Among his many accolades, he has received the Max Award for Best Dancer in 2007, the Abril Award for Best Dancer in 2006 and 2007, seven nominations for the MAX Performing Arts Awards, and five nominations for the «Valencian Performing Arts Awards» from the Generalitat Valenciana. He also won First Prize at the IV Choreographic Contest in Madrid with the piece «Trapping que es gerundi» and received a scholarship for the best dancer at the «Merce Cunningham School.»
