Alcala de Xivert proposes a credit modification to finance works and the Local Employment Plan

Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre
local council, presided over by the mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, proposed at the 12th June council meeting that a credit modification be incorporated into the remainder from 2012.

According to Francisco Juan Mars “some actions are to be taken which are vital for the future of the locality and meet demands and needs of our residents”.

First it is planned to open a circular route in the coastal nucleus of Alcossebre.  The main aim of this is to reduce traffic congestion in the centre and to reorganise the direction in the streets.  “It is hoped that this will be the first step in creating pedestrian areas in the future”.

The council considers that it is necessary to create a socio-cultural centre, a multipurpose space which would enable large events to be held without being affected by weather conditions.  “There is a great need for this, with the creation of such premises it would be possible to hold all types of event without them being affected by weather conditions”.  In this way the local executive wants to prevent events having to be cancelled, as was the case when the gathering of drummer groups had to be cancelled because of rain, and the Sant Pere dances.

It would be a large building of 1,000 square metres with a hall and toilet facilities, which would have 780,000 euros invested in it, “all this will avoid the cost of marquees for the council and the many groups which organise events in the municipality”.  In line with this, it is hoped that these premises could accommodate all sorts of fiestas, rallies and dances.  The executive points out the fact that this would be constructed with its own resources, without the need to run into debt, and it is hoped that it could be operational by mid-2014.

Finally they will provide support for education with events in the schools and they will add a further 40,000 euros to the 90,000 which are already in the budget “with the aim of continuing to give employment to our residents”, for whom these measures are part of our social and job creation policies set out in the budget for 2013.  “With this modification, they are going to see improvements for over a million euros resulting from savings”.
