Alcossebre’s six blue flags are all renewed for beaches plus the blue flag for the pathway

The municipality has the most awards in the Baix Maestrat and heads the list at a provincial level

Once again, Alcossebre has become the municipality in the Baix Maestrat with the greatest number of blue flags.  The Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (Adeac) a dependent of the European Environmental Education Federation (FEE) has made the awards again.

The Las Fuentes, Cargador, Romana, El Moro and Manyetes beaches have all been rewarded, that is to say, all the municipality’s beaches with areas of special landscape and environmental value and this confirms the support of the Alcala-Alcossebre Council for sustainable tourism.  In the case of the beaches, the blue flags recognise the quality of the beaches’ water and sand – the absence of rubbish, the cleanliness and the available facilities and installations, taking aspects of accessibility, safety and environmental education all into account.

The mayor, Francisco Juan, pointed out that “effort is required to maintain the quality of our beaches and our extensive shore line but it is compensated by these blue flags which place us as the leading municipality in the Baix Maestrat and the only one in the province, besides Oropesa, to receive six awards” and he said that “we in the Council will continue improving every facility possible, the environment and infrastructures related to the beaches, but we have to take into account that to do this we need the cooperation of bodies dependent on the central Government and the Generalitat Valenciana”.
